Bitcoin has recorded its worst October performance since 2014, closing the month with a 7.32% decline and breaking its historically bullish “Uptober” reputation.

According to CoinGlass data cited in the report, October 2026 marked Bitcoin's fourth-worst October in recorded trading history.

The decline also followed a 3.9% loss in October 2025, creating the first consecutive negative October returns since 2011 and 2012.

Bitcoin's disappointing performance came despite September delivering a 6.4% gain, reversing the usual seasonal pattern.

The latest downturn has raised questions about whether November can deliver a recovery following two consecutive years of October losses.

Bitcoin's Historical Uptober Trend Breaks Down

October has traditionally been one of Bitcoin's strongest months, with positive returns in 11 of the 16 years between 2010 and 2025.

During that period, Bitcoin recorded an average October gain of approximately 26.1%, alongside a median return of 12.9%.

Previous rallies included gains of 40% in October 2021, 28.6% in 2023 and 10.9% in 2024.

However, October 2026's 7.32% decline ranks among the cryptocurrency's weakest monthly performances.

Only October 2011, 2012 and 2014 recorded larger percentage losses.

The result demonstrates that historical seasonal trends cannot guarantee future price movements, particularly during periods of heightened market uncertainty.

Binance Hack Triggers Crypto Market Sell-Off

The final days of October were particularly volatile following the reported $6.3 billion Binance security breach on October 29.

Bitcoin traded between $76,337 and $81,840 over the seven-day period, representing a price range exceeding $5,500.

The attack intensified concerns about exchange security and contributed to broader cryptocurrency market instability.

According to the supplied market reports, leveraged cryptocurrency liquidations exceeded $1.5 billion during the first 24 hours following the incident.

Binance subsequently pledged to cover affected customer balances using corporate reserves and its Secure Asset Fund for Users.

Meanwhile, industry partners reportedly froze approximately $3 billion in assets associated with the breach.

Despite these recovery efforts, uncertainty surrounding the incident continued weighing on market sentiment.

Bitcoin ETFs Record $643 Million in Outflows

Institutional selling pressure added to Bitcoin's difficulties, with US spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds reportedly recording approximately $643 million in net outflows on October 30.

The withdrawals coincided with heightened volatility following the Binance incident.

Large ETF outflows can contribute to weaker market sentiment, particularly when investors are already reducing exposure to riskier assets.

Bitcoin also entered November with a reported year-to-date decline of approximately 11.2%, following a 6.3% annual loss in 2025.

The combination of exchange security concerns, leveraged liquidations and institutional withdrawals created challenging conditions for a sustained recovery.

Bitcoin Faces Key Support Around $76,000

Bitcoin's immediate technical outlook centers on the $76,000–$76,500 support region, following its recent weekly low of $76,337.

A sustained decline below that range could bring $75,000 into focus, followed by the $73,000 region.

Conversely, recovering above $78,000–$80,000 could strengthen short-term momentum.

The recent weekly high near $81,840 represents another potential resistance level.

However, these price levels are technical reference points rather than reliable predictions, and market conditions could change rapidly.

November has historically delivered an average Bitcoin return of approximately 34.9%, although that figure is heavily influenced by the extraordinary 2013 rally.

Its median return of 10.3% provides a less extreme historical comparison.

For now, Bitcoin's November performance will depend more on actual market demand, institutional flows and investor confidence than seasonal expectations.
