Cryptocurrency exchange Kraken has officially partnered with FIFA to become the Official Crypto Exchange Supporter of the FIFA World Cup 2026, bringing digital assets into one of the most-watched sporting events on the planet.

The agreement, announced just days before kickoff, will cover the entire tournament, which runs from June 11 to July 19, and is expected to expose the crypto platform to an audience of more than six billion cumulative viewers worldwide.

The partnership marks one of the largest sports sponsorships ever signed by a cryptocurrency exchange and highlights the industry's continued push into mainstream global entertainment.

Kraken Bets Big on Football's Global Audience

The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be the biggest edition in the tournament's history, featuring 48 national teams, 104 matches, and 16 host cities across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Kraken believes the tournament's enormous international reach makes it the perfect platform to introduce millions of new users to digital assets.

Kraken co-CEO Arjun Sethi emphasized the connection between football and cryptocurrency, describing both as borderless systems that unite people across the world.

"Football has always crossed borders. So does crypto. The FIFA World Cup 2026 is where we show everyone what an open, borderless financial system looks like."

The exchange, which operates in more than 190 countries, hopes the sponsorship will strengthen its global brand while accelerating crypto adoption among mainstream audiences.

Fan Experiences and Global Events Planned

Kraken's involvement will begin immediately with a multi-city international countdown concert celebrating the opening of the tournament.

Throughout the seven-week competition, the exchange also plans to introduce a series of fan-focused digital experiences across North America and Europe, although specific details have yet to be announced.

FIFA officials welcomed the partnership, noting that innovation has become an increasingly important part of the tournament's evolution.

FIFA Chief Business Officer Romy Gai said the organization sees technology partnerships as an opportunity to improve fan engagement while embracing new forms of digital interaction.

Crypto Expands Its Presence in Global Sports

The FIFA agreement further strengthens Kraken's growing sports sponsorship portfolio. The exchange already maintains partnerships with Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur, Atlético Madrid, RB Leipzig, and the Atlassian Williams Formula One team, using major sporting events to promote cryptocurrency adoption.

Sports sponsorships have become a key marketing strategy across the crypto industry as exchanges compete for global visibility and mainstream recognition.

Authorities Warn Fans About Crypto Scams

While excitement around the World Cup continues to build, authorities have also issued warnings about an increase in crypto-related scams targeting football fans.

Law enforcement agencies caution supporters to be careful when purchasing tickets, merchandise, or promotional products, as fraudsters often exploit major sporting events to steal funds through fake websites and cryptocurrency payment schemes.

As millions of fans prepare for the tournament, Kraken's partnership places cryptocurrency at the center of football's biggest global celebration while highlighting the industry's continued expansion into mainstream culture.
