Samsung has officially launched USDC stablecoin support in Samsung Wallet, bringing cryptocurrency functionality to approximately 82 million compatible Galaxy devices in the United States.

The service went live in early November 2026, following its initial announcement on October 7.

Eligible users can buy, hold, send and receive Circle's USDC stablecoin on the Solana blockchain without downloading a separate cryptocurrency application or managing private keys.

The feature integrates directly into Samsung Wallet alongside payment cards, identification documents and boarding passes.

By simplifying access to digital dollars, Samsung aims to make stablecoin transfers more accessible to everyday smartphone users.

Solana Powers USDC Transfers Across Galaxy Devices

Solana provides the blockchain infrastructure supporting Samsung Wallet's new USDC functionality, enabling cryptocurrency transfers between compatible wallets.

Users can send USDC to other Samsung Wallet customers in the United States or transfer funds to supported external cryptocurrency wallets.

Samsung does not charge additional fees for these transfers, although third-party providers may apply their own charges.

The integration also allows international money transfers to eligible bank accounts in more than 60 countries, with recipients potentially receiving funds in their local currency.

Lily Liu, president of the Solana Foundation, highlighted the significance of the launch: "For a decade, stablecoins have proved the technology works. What they lacked was a way to reach the mainstream."

The integration represents another effort to bring blockchain-based payments into widely used consumer applications.

Coinbase and Bastion Handle Stablecoin Security

Samsung partnered with licensed stablecoin infrastructure provider Bastion and cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase to operate the service.

Bastion manages the stablecoin infrastructure and custody arrangements, while Coinbase serves as its sub-custodian through Coinbase Prime Vault.

This arrangement removes the need for customers to manage their own private keys.

However, Samsung emphasizes that the Stablecoin Account is a cryptocurrency wallet, not a traditional bank account.

Customer funds are held as USDC rather than conventional bank deposits, meaning different protections and risks apply.

Users must complete identity verification and authenticate transactions through supported Galaxy security features.

Samsung Offers $25 USDC Bonus to New Users

Samsung is offering eligible new users $25 in USDC after an initial top-up of at least $50, providing an incentive to try the service.

However, some transactions involve additional fees.

Credit card deposits, including those made through Samsung Pay, carry a 4% processing fee, while withdrawals to bank accounts or debit cards also incur charges.

International transfer costs vary depending on the destination and payment method.

The service requires Android 13 or later and is available to US residents aged 18 or older.

New York residents are excluded from the initial rollout, reflecting restrictions on the service's availability.

Samsung Plans Future Stablecoin Payments

Samsung is already exploring additional stablecoin payment features, including online purchases and contactless payments at physical stores.

Future functionality could allow Galaxy users to spend USDC through familiar payment experiences without interacting directly with cryptocurrency exchanges.

The company is also considering expanding stablecoin services internationally, subject to regulatory approval.

Woncheol Chai, Samsung's digital wallet executive, explained that the goal is to simplify international money transfers without requiring users to navigate complicated cryptocurrency tools.

For now, the launch gives eligible US Galaxy owners a new way to access digital dollars through an application already installed on their devices.

The development also expands Solana's presence in consumer payment infrastructure as stablecoins continue moving beyond traditional cryptocurrency platforms.
